In early September I met someone who did Shopify Dropshipping. He told me that he had been running a business for a while now and that it would be something I could try out to see if I liked. I already knew about dropshipping but I wasn’t sure exactly how it worked.
I set up a Shopify store plan on a free trial and I figured out how to build out a store making it look like a super cool, watered down version of a modern teenage Pinterest board. The site was minimalistic and clean. I actually started with products that I no longer sell, although what I sell now is still within the same niche. It took me about a month and a half to fully work out all the kinks and get the store live. I set up social media accounts for my store and started to grow a small following, allowing a new door to be opened for potential customers.
I got my first sale on my birthday, October 14th. The store had only been off the trial plan (live) for about 2 weeks. I wasn’t running paid marketing or Facebook Ads at all at this point. I got a few more sales in the next few weeks from organic social media posts I was making. I learned the basics of FB Ads in a few days and finally got them optimized and I started getting a decent amount of sales. I was learning little tweaks to parts of the ads that really optimized the conversions. The learning curve was good.
Facebook Ads are really powerful. I know enough about them now to run targeted ads to customers within my niche and now I have a passive income store that generates me about $4,000 a month in sales. As of now, my goal is to scale the business and to keep introducing new ad creatives and products into my store. E-Commerce changed not only my life but my way of thinking.
